NHRA announces changes to competition fees
Wednesday, April 08, 2009 Effective immediately, NHRA is increasing all competition fees, including license, permanent numbers, and chassis inspection. The new fees for these services are reflected in the forms available online at www.nhra.com/competition/forms.aspx. NHRA has not raised fees in more than a decade, and, given the current economic environment, NHRA needs to adjust fees to help offset some of the increased costs for these services. In addition, and at national events, NHRA will increase the insurance surcharge. It should be noted that these fees, even as increased, do not cover the costs for sportsman programs. NHRA will continue to subsidize costs to provide these programs. NHRA remains committed to sportsman racing, and these increases will assist us in being able to continue to provide premier racing programs at the national, divisional, and local level. AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING!!!!! |

I love that they didn't give any warning. Isn't it usually customary in business to give a warning on an increase? I just saw the increased the price of the new Camaro but gave a week notice (may have even gotten a few more sales that week from people on the fence). If I would have know that I would have found a way to get the car to Maple Grove when they were certing last month. Thanks guys for making it even tougher for us all.

This is what I love.....
NHRA has not raised fees in more than a decade, and, given the current economic environment, NHRA needs to adjust fees to help offset some of the increased costs for these services. In addition, and at national events, NHRA will increase the insurance surcharge. I GUESS WE ARE ALL PAYING FOR THAT NEW BMW THAT MR. COMPTON BOUGHT..... EVENTUALLY NHRA WILL FIGURE OUT THAT THE SPORTSMAN RACER IS THE BACKBONE OF THE ASSOCIATION AND WHEN MORE AND MORE RACERS START GOING BRACKET RACING AND RUNNING OTHER ASSOCIATIONS (IHRA, EAST COAST S/SS, MASGA) IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO GET THEM BACK BECAUSE THESE ARE ASSOCIATIONS THAT TREAT RACERS AS THEY SHOULD BE TREATED AND DON'T HIKE PRICES UP WHEN THE ECONOMY IS ALREADY IN THE TOILET. I MEAN ATLANTA IS LESS THEN 2 WEEKS AWAY AND THERE IS 55 S/G CARS ENTERED, ONLY 1 D-1 CAR WHICH USUALLY DRAWS 10-15 CARS, AND BRISTOL WHICH A LOT OF D-1 S/G CARS GO TO ONLY HAS 8 CARS ENTERED.... |

Lucky NHRA, digging into our pockets again. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it. Our car runs 8.80's so we are due for an inspection next week plus Rick just got his physical on Wednesday so dig into our pockets a little farther for the increase in license fees. But it will not stop us from going to the track. My family has had a rough year so far, so we are ready to get back out and race with our friends. My dad took a nasty fall in January and is now confined to a wheel chair and we had to put our 17 year old cocker spaniel, Clyde down in February. So this distraction of the smell of fuel and the noise might help us all.
Take care guys. See you in a couple weeks, I hope. Ruthie Bailey |
