What is this all about now
Notice to NHRA Sportsman competitors 11/25/2008 Due to abuses of the policies, pit parking complications, and pending changes to the online credential system the following changes will go into effect for all Sportsman categories in 2009: Provisional entries (Gold, Silver, past world and past event champions) will not be allowed to re-enter after withdrawing. Bronze Card holders will no longer be guaranteed entry. Bronze card holders must enter prior to the category reaching quota. Once a category has reached quota, entries will not be accepted if the competitors grade point is less than when the category reached quota. Example: If a national event reaches its quota at Grade 4, only competitors with a Grade 4 or higher will be able to enter the event, regardless of the number of withdrawals. Available transfers within the system will automatically be used during the check out process. Under Payee information competitors must enter address, Tax ID or Social Security number. Driver changes will not be accepted. Gate entries will not be accepted. All Provisional entries (Gold, Silver, Past Event and Past World Champions) must be completed online by Monday at 1 p.m. (Pacific time) the week of the event.

I love how they lead it with "Due to abuses of the policies" and then follow it up with "pit parking complications" (i.e. we want more room for our hospitality trailers) and "pending changes to the online credential system" (whatever that means). They're clearly trying to make it look like we brought this upon ourselves, being the ill-tempered children that we are.
The one that sticks in my craw is the issue about no entries being accepted below a certain grade point once the category has closed at that grade point. Why not? Especially if no grade 4 or higher (as per their example) registers, why shouldn't a lower grade competitor be able to get in? You know why, because they want to FORCE everyone to go to a bazillion LODRS events, and they're annoyed that due to low car counts last year that people have been able to get it by waiting for the withdraws to go through in the last few days. You know what I've got to say about that? ![]()

Just makes it easier for me to run a limited divisional schedule next year, concentrating on more closer races & trying to make the bracket finals for the 1st time.

Could it be from the little uproar over the driver change in Pomona that seemed a little fishy? Maybe a few people felt it was a little biased and made some phone calls. Now maybe NHRA is trying to get out of trouble, like they're doing something about it.

With a grade 4 or better wouldn't NHRA be getting their money about a month to six weeks earlier????????? Also with the cut backs from the big 3 there might be all kinds of room in the pits (pro side) they can always find room for us, even if it's in the mud puddles or out in the deep weeds.........Just my .02

Right on Tony.... I am not looking to hard for my next car..
Looks like i sold at just the right time. Parking???? If parking is a mess it is cause of them. They tell us where to go. The quota deal is a joke.... sorry we sold out at this grade point so you have to be the same or higher..... I think they are higher and smoking some good ****. Rock was this ever talked about?

Fast brackets or ORP points for us. $$$$ & hassle isn't worth it anymore.

I don't see how that affected any of us....so what...
the driver change thing is a huge pain in the butt...and most of us did it to get around the system anyway besides .....there probably won't be anybody entered this year.... Last edited by CBS; 11-27-2008 at 11:48 PM. |
