Class Racer Trivia
Enough of this first red light argument, how many people remember our friend 'Top Fuel' who was on the site several years ago? He was going to build a car and present it to the NHRA officials to show them how easy it was to cheat with electronic timing devices that would real time monitor the ET of a car while going down the track. It was probably the biggest thread that the site has ever had and went on for months. I'm still patiently waiting for the demonstration...

Re: Class Racer Trivia
I'm new here but monitoring time on track while trying to watch a tach/shift light and hit the gears is just something Trump might Tweet at 4am.
This might work in the DC comics universe for Barry Allen/The Flash, but for most of us mere humans, we'd be under our dial by the time we recognized it on a display. Ever watch 1000s of a second on a stopwatch? EDIT: If we saw our dial, we'd be over it. You'd need to know your cars linear acceleration rate over the 1/4 mile flat out and it's deceleration rate at given percentages of throttle. Then figure all of that out on the fly and apply it in, maybe a hon or so. Ain't gonna happen in my world...

Re: Class Racer Trivia
I am surprised that with today’s technology, crank speed sensors, wheel speed, drive shaft speed, and other things I don’t understand how they work, that someone hasn’t built a bracket car or even a electric car like a Tesla that will run dead on every time and win those big dollar races with it.
If the car will run 12. flat out then making it run 12.5 with the computer should be doable. Almost unbeatable if you can cut a killer light every time.

Re: Class Racer Trivia
I remember reading that thread about that. Can't recall who it was.

The glue mark is still on wall at Firebird that held the sensor in place. NOT

He even had people looking for them. I don't know if he knew anything about electronics, but he sure was good at psy-ops . LOL

Re: Class Racer Trivia
Think of self driving cars, they can go through stop lights so they have to read the stop light and the colors. The reaction time of the computer will beat you every time.
There's an idea, "Google self driving bracket car". Last edited by Mike Gray; 12-23-2016 at 01:39 PM. |
