RACE #2 TIME UPDATE (Tuesday A.M.)

This Saturday, July 26th, CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association presented by GBM Land & Construction will invade The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park for the 1st of 2 stops in 2025.

There will be a track hosted Friday night test & tune, weather permitting. Gates open at 6 pm with testing beginning at 6:30 pm. Cost is $30.00.

The gates will be open Friday afternoon & throughout the night for racers to come in.

Saturday, we will have points races #3 & #4.
Gates will open on Saturday at 8 a.m. (1 hour prior than flyer), time runs at 9:30 a.m., followed by our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash with eliminations to follow. Our Saturday title sponsor is Sloan Racing Engines out of Sanford, NC & D. Pope Farms (Dewitt Pope) is the associate sponsor for the 1st race. We will run this race to completion before starting the 2nd race of the day.

Race #2: Dash for Cash & bracket time runs for The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park racers beginning at 5:30 p.m. with eliminations to follow. Truell Grading Company (Lee Truell) is the title sponsor for the 2nd race with Elite Paint & Body (Kevin Locklear) being the associate sponsor. As always, please be sure to thank all of our sponsors when you see them because without them, CCRA couldn't be as successful as it is!!!!

You still have time to enter the 2025 points since we've only had 1 race so far this year.
* $200.00 to enter points
* $100.00 to enter race

It is July which means it will be hot. I need all of our racers & crew to stay hydrated. I will try to have some water at the registration table as well as cooling towels.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend.

Saturday was a scorching hot day but we were all prepared & made the absolute best out of a not so desirable day!!! SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR RACERS THAT SURVIVED THE HEAT WITH US AS WELL AS The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park STAFF & MR. RONNIE HUMPHREY!!!

We started race #1 around 9:50ish a.m. & completed it at 2:15 p.m. We started Dash for Cash a little after 6 p.m. for race #2 & was taking Winner Circle photos at 11:15 p.m. It was a long day but WE MADE IT!! Our entire team was overly prepared with coolers/bottles of water, Gatorade, energy drinks, swimming pool & Pedialyte popsicles (which I think was a huge hit)!!!

We started out on Saturday morning for race #1 with our normal time run, followed by our Warren Engines Dash for Cash. Blake Hickman started out the day collecting the first $100.00 of the day. He was dialed a 7.21 & ran a 7.211 at 91.46 mph. We had 30 cars on property with 28 of them making the 1st round call. Joseph Strickland received the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. He was dialed a 7.5 dial, had a .084 RT, & ran a 7.540 at 87.80 mph. Joe Huestis picked up the 5 gallons of Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor PRO 112+ fuel for his 2nd Round Best Losing Package. He had a .081 RT, ran a 8.868 at 73.89 mph on his 8.85 dial. It was all Chevrolet vehicles left at 4 cars with 2 of them being Camaros & 2 being Chevy II's. Charlie Wisecarver went red to Blake Hickman & Kelsey Alexander was off her dial against Homer Carty. It was over at the hit in the finals as Hickman lit the red bulb by .044, then ran a 7.208 at 91.81 mph on his 7.22 dial. Carty would pick up his 1st win since having a major eye surgery a couple of months ago so I'd say the surgery was a success! Homer was dialed a 6.62, had a .034 RT, & ran a 6.616 at 99.84 mph picking up his 1st win of the season. Carty picked up the Winner's hat sponsored by Phillips Automotive, a large trailer check from MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, $250.00 gift certificate for Hippie Headers, $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products, a certificate for a set of spark plugs from E3 Spark Plugs, 5 gallons of F12 racing fuel courtesy of Fuel Factory, $50.00 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate, $100.00 Altronics Inc gift certificate, $100.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate, & a $100.00 COMP Cams gift certificate. Hickman picked up a smaller trailer check designed by MJ's Custom Printing, a $150.00 Hippie Headers gift certificate, $50.00 ATI Performance Products gift certificate, a 5 gallon pail of F8 Fuel Factory fuel, 50% coupon from Zamp Racing, $50.00 gift certificate from COMP Cams, & a $50.00 gift certificate from Edelbrock Performance.

Blake's winnings didn't end there. He also won the Dunn Logging Company, The Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" award, for his .001 RT in E4 & Best Winning Package sponsored by Charlene's Tax Service during the same round. Along with his .001 RT in E4 (Semi's), he ran a 7.211 at 91.66 mph on his 7.21 dial when his opponent, Charlie Wisecarver went red. Jim Reynolds suffered breakage after his 1st run & was unable to compete. He was given the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck award. Corbitt Marshburn picked up the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award taking out GALOT Motorsports Park runner-up Joseph Strickland during R1. The Wisecarver Brothers Racing Sportsmanship award was given to Dennis Pope. Anyone who knows Dennis, knows he goes out of his way to help his fellow racers in any situation. Dallas Locklear was awarded the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter" for his .267 RT during round 1 of eliminations.

Our Sunday portion of the race was ran on Saturday evening at The Dragway at Coastal Plains Park. We only had our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. Charlie Wisecarver picked up that $100.00. He ran a 6.270 at 106.80 mph on his 6.27 dial. We had 24 cars on property for race #2 but only 21 cars were able to make the 1st round call due to breakage. Stacie Ridings lost a close run during R1 running a 6.983 at 94.88 mph on her 6.97 dial with a .066 RT. She didn't leave empty handed though as she was awarded the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package. Tanner Hiatt got himself a 5 gallon pail of Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor PRO 112+ when he lost during round 2. His 6.65 dial, .038 RT, running 6.668 at 102.73 mph gave him the Renegade Racing Fuel-Ford?s Fuel South East Master Distributor 2nd Round Best Losing Package. The lone semi-finalist was Keith Alexander in his beautiful, black 69 Camaro. Keith is undergoing treatment for cancer currently so it was great to see Keith in the later rounds. Alexander was late at the hit giving Dell Britt the win in the semi's. Jaymes Rawlings took a bye run & prepared himself for his 1st ever CCRA finals. As a repeat of our 1st race, race #2 was over at the hit when Dell Britt lit the red bulb by .019, giving Rawlings his 1st CCRA victory. Jaymes was used to bracket racing logic with the timing system having TruStart & as a result was late at the tree but the "W" was already on in his lane. Rawlings ran a 5.953 at 114.05 mph on his 5.59 dial for the victory. Dell also went dead on his dial running a 6.820 at 96.78 mph on his 6.82 dial. Jaymes picked up his race winnings, the special CCRA Eagle trophy & trailer check from MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, a $250.00 gift certificate to his own business, Hippie Headers 😉, $100.00 ATI Performance Products gift certificate, E3 Spark Plugs gift certificate for a set of spark plugs, Portatree Timing Systems 15% off coupon, a 5 gallon pail of Fuel Factory F12 racing fuel, a $50.00 Meziere Enterprises gift certificate, $100.00 Altronics Inc gift certificate, $100.0 COMP Cams gift certificate & a $100.00 Edelbrock Performance gift certificate. Dell picked up his race winnings, a smaller trailer check from MJ's Custom Printing & Graphics, $150.00 gift certificate from Hippie Headers, $50.00 certificate from ATI Performance Products, F8 fuel from Fuel Factory, 50% off one item coupon from Zamp Racing, $50.00 gift certificate from Edelbrock Performance, & a $50.00 gift certificate from COMP Cams.

Rawlings left with 3 more envelopes with money for the Dunn Logging Company, The Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" for his .011 RT during E3, the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter for taking out Saturday #1 winner, Homer Carty, also during E3, & the Charlene's Tax Service, Best Winning Package (E3) for his .011 RT, running 5.962 at 113.83 mph on his 5.96 dial. John Lattimore had some car issues & was unable to compete in the 2nd race so he was awarded the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck award. Kevin Locklear received The Wisecarver Brothers Racing Sportsmanship award for assisting Dell Britt with a jump box when his car wouldn't crank in the staging lanes. Keith Alexander received the Gutters by Design "Mind in the Gutter"/Worst Light award for his .405 RT during E2. Blake Hickman's tech card was randomly drawn to receive the $35.00 Visa gift card given by Half Moon for the "Act of Giving Back".

Our next race of the 2025 is less than 2 weeks away at KDS Motorsports on August 9th & 10th. Let's hope for a tad bit cooler weather that weekend. Hope to see everyone there that couldn't make it this past weekend.
