It's going now all machine work done ,mock up will begin . Cam and lifters are in. Rods here, should all start coming together nicely . Can't wait to see what kind of power we can make !

You can run aftermarket pistons . My pistons are NHRA legal Diamond part number 80013 1967 396 375 hp. I guess I should have said we have one mocked up to check all clearances then the other 7 can go in . I'm clarifying this for the question Robert had just to make this clear. Sorry for any confusion.

This should be a very nice 396! This thread should keep rolling along now

You have a beautiful car and very cool. Forgive me for asking such a question. But, I did not think that the piston domes could be modified in any way to match the heads in stock eleminator? Or is this a practice I was not awair of? Or is this a SS project?

Thanks

Robert

Your forgiven. This is a A/S build. Section 10A, Page 5. Class stock. OEM or NHRA -accepted aftermarket replacements permitted provided such items comply with all requirements set forth in this section.
Aftermarket pistons may be forged or cast and must retain the as-cast or as-forged HEAD CONFIGURATION.

Ok that makes sence. There is not a direct replacement piston for you combination. Will the machining remove the NHRA numbers, or are they on the bottom? Thanks again.

If it'll go 1.00 under I would be ecstatic! This combo has been beat to death for 40 years lol not the smartest to run a 396/375 hp alum head lol. More of a cool factor for me ,just want it to be respectable . It'll all be new so it'll take a lot of sorting out , but it'll be a lot of fun to drive!
