Have asked on several forums, with no luck.
Billy Joe ran Stock back in the '70's. The pic below is from a '78 IHRA points race, in Tyler TX. He later ran a 3rd gen Bird GT car. He shows up as #10 qualifier at the 2000 Fall Nats. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=86954 Barney ran a Machine shop in San Antonio, & built Pontiac engines for B.J. Online info shows that the shop has closed, but pics are still up. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?pb=!1...oiowDnoECEUQAw Online info shows phone numbers for both guys. But they don't work for me. Probably old info. So, does anybody here live in South TX, near San Antonio ? Anybody here know either of these guys ? Anybody here know someone who might be able to help me find contact info ? Any help with this will be appreciated ! ![]() Last edited by oldskool; 09-03-2021 at 04:12 PM. |

These guys are friends of mine but since I have been working out of town I haven't seen them since last year. In fact I haven't seen Billy Joe for a few years. I know where he lives but haven't stopped by lately. Lost Barney's cell number and like you said shop is closed. Dan Reeves or the Blackmons might have phone numbers.

That gets me a little closer. So, how do I contact Dan Reeves & the Blackmons ? Do you remember the Pontiac powered cars they raced ? Was the 3rd gen GT Bird Pontiac powered ? |

Don't know anything about a Firebird GT car , but when I was running my 1971 Trans Am in Stock , they were doing quite well with a 1973 Super Duty Formula , also in Stock. This would have been in the early 80's .

Thanks ! I'll try it.
Nope, don't think that's the right number. Had to listen to the recording twice. Voice was talking real fast. Sounded something like "Robert Waltah Outlaw Co". Last edited by oldskool; 09-03-2021 at 05:14 PM. |

Yeah, I reckin they ran lots of different Pontiacs. Here's a pic from the H-O Racing Specialties High Output newsletter, in '75. The car looks to be a '70-'73 model with the twin scoop Formy hood.

Yeah, that's the number shown online. I've called it a few times. Went ahead & called it again, just now. There's never an answer. No answering machine. It just continues to ring.

The last 3rd gen Firebird I believe was an old Trumble car. GT/LA with a 63'(?) 389. Had a national record at one time with that car.
