Anyway, late last year (sounds like such a long time ago when it really was only last week) there was some rumors rolling along on the internet (Rumors? On the internet? Say it ain’t so) about the NHRA lowering the indexes for the Super Stock and Stock classes.

Lowing the index is just another way for the NHRA to hurt sportsman racers and have them stop racing..
There is nothing wrong with the index system. The cars that are (compared to their index) slow are able to race. Their job, as far as winning goes, is to attempt to avoid heads up races. That's their choice as to how they wish to race. If the NHRA makes the choice to reduce the indexes, that will only reduce the amount of entries without increasing the quality of racing. I have been asking for more than 20 years to see what the NHRA 5 or 10 year plan was..
