Default Super Stock GT Question

Is it required in Super Stock GT to run a stick if the car was stick from the factory? Or will GT allow you to run an automatic regardless of how the car came from the factory?

Hammer,

it does not matter how the "body" was originally equipped in ref to automatic or manual trans. It is required that the engine and trans retain the corporate equipment. That is to say, GM trans in GM car, Ford trans in Ford car.

Hammer,

It should be noted that if a combination was stick or automatic only, it can only be ran as such in the GT class, i.e. 67-69 302 Z-28, 1966 327/350 hp chevy II. I think the 1985 mustang 302 falls under this one also. There are others, but these will give you an idea of what is permissable.

Check with your local tech. I had people on this board tell me I couldn't claim the 68 Cougar 302/230 with the Holley 4bbl for my 68 Mustang GT/MA because the Cougar with that carb was stick only. I emailed my tech and he sent the question to the main office. The response was that the office had that build cleared for either stick or auto. Same goes for running the QuickFuel 585 carb as a replacement. It's not listed but it's OK.

Lots of stuff not published. Gotta ask.

Hammer,

You may look on the NHRAracer web site in classification guide, look up your combination. Dwight Southerland also has this info.

This is what our tech guys go buy as well.
