OK. I dislike snakes as much as anyone, and probably more than most.. but...
Remember, this happened in Texas where I am sure they see more than one or two snakes.... not even counting elected officials... in their lives... So it is especially curious to me. But this lady is cleaning up her yard, and she sees a snake. She could have: 1. Gotten a gun, and shot the snake. She is in Texas, and Texans own guns. 2. Gotten a shovel, and smashed it. There probably a shovel in that garage next to the gas can. 3. Called a snake wrangler and have them wrestle it. 4. Just walk away, tell yourself they are good for getting rid of mice and other small rodents. And then. left the snake alone But in her panic, and irrational state of mind; she chose to do none of those things. She decided to get a container of gasoline and douse the snake. I don't imagine that she was cleaning up her yard with gasoline, so she walked to the shed or garage, and got container of gas. That should do it! The gas should burn the snake, tick him off, and maybe even kill him... Well done there Ma'am! Oh, you aren't done yet? Now you are going to light that snake on fire. Once again, maybe she had her lighter in her pocket, or picked up some kind of lighter when she got the gas. But Yes! You bet. Great idea! A lighter and some gasoline sounds like a great idea to me. There is absolutely no way this could turn out badly...... Unless.... You light the gasoline drenched snake who is already more than a little bit agitated and has all of his self preservation instincts kicked in and looking for cover. So, the flaming snake, now a portable torch, scurries off and gets to a wood pile. And the wood pile catches on fire... But hey, it was just a bunch of wood. And the snake is now probably toast. No harm done; the snake is gone, and that is that: right? Unless... The wood pile is close to your house, and your house catches on fire. And your house is very close to the house next door. And it catches that neighbors house on fire too. Not good. Good News, the neighbors house was NOT a total loss. And the Police haven't filed charges. Yet. I can just hear the husband talking to his wife: Why didn't you just leave that stupid snake alone in the first place????????????? The only injuries reported were to law enforcement officers whose sides cramped and were sore from laughing.
