I know many don't read the individual Association sub-forums on here, so I wanted to post this here:
Saturday and Sunday May 26-27 at Quaker City Motorsports Park in Salem Ohio will be the first two of seven Tri-State S/SS Association races for 2012 The track has undergone significant updates, including adding new drainage and ather ammenities to help with drainage. Several low seven second cars have made runs and commented the new surface hooks very well. We will have a race each day. Saturday 5/26 is $50 S/SS, payout begins third round loser ($50) and doubles each round after. Race will be run in rotation with regular bracket program and Quick 16; S/SS will follow Q-16 in the run order. Schedule Saturday May 26 Gates open: 9 am Jr Dragsters and TCR: 10 am Big car time trials: 1 pm S/SS Race, $50 entry (car/driver free at the gate, crew/spectators $10) Sunday 5/27 is $100 S/SS, payout begins $50 second round loser, and doubles each round after. We will be run as part of the Nostalgia Classic, with UMTR Stickshift Series, Gassers, and a Gamblers bracket race for 1980 and older cars/altereds (no rear engined dragsters). Plus exhibition runs by nostalgia dragsters and f/c's. Schedule Sunday May 27 Gates open: 8 am Time trials: 10 am for S/SS, Gassers, and UMTR stick classes. S/SS Race, $100 entry (car/driver free at the gate, crew/spectators $15) For racers in the area (western PA, eastern OH, northern/western WV), here is a MUCH BETTER AND CHEAPER alternative to going to Maple Grove that weekend. A trip to the Grove, with gas at near $3.75 a gallon, higher tolls for 2012, multiple nights in motel, 3 to 5 days away from work and/or home etc etc, you're probably looking at close to a thousand dollars, or more, for the weekend. Here, you can race TWICE, close to home, little to no tolls, a lot less gas, and, at most, one nights motel (most live close enough not to need one) and no need to take Thursday and/or Friday off work, and do Quaker for less than half the cost to travel across PA. Racers who do go to the Grove (?) and lose first round Saturday, can still make it home to race here on Sunday. Information for all our series events can be found on Classracer at http://classracer.com/classforum/forumdisplay.php?f=28 Hope to see you there!
