Default Indy Hotel and Shopping malls ?

Starting to plan for a family trip to Indy US Nats, and this year for the first time ever I am bringing my wife along. Any suggestions as to a nice clean hotel on that side of town and a large indoor shopping mall would be greatly appreciated. Have not been since 1998 and I am sure things have changed since then.

Stayed at the Drury Inn Indianapolis on Michigan road last year.
Free parking, nice hot complimentary breakfast and the 5:30 PM kickback made the stay very pleasant. Lots of shopping around.
See more details for yourself on their web site.

Thanks Mike, I was looking at the Drury Inn on Michigan, seems very nice. There does not appear to be a large shopping mall within walking distance however. My wife likes the looks of the Embassy $uite$ downtown which is attached to a big mall called Centre City mall. $$$ Anybody else have suggestions ?

At 38th street and 465 there is a Ramada that is very nice, newer and clean. Its easy to get to just turn right out of the track and goto Dandy Trail and turn left and follow it to the Hotel which is on the left right before you cross over 465. I have stayed there many times. The guy that runs it is very nice and if he knows you are going to be there for the race he will ask what brand of beer you drink and have a free one or two waiting when you check in and again each night when you come back. If you stay there one warning. Unless you have a pickup and very very small light trailer do not go down dandy trail for any reason with the trailer. Dandy trail is a weight restricted road and has a very low weight rating. I have seen ISP there with portables just about every year we have gone up to watch the big race and when we go back a few weeks later for the bracket finals. There is a nice multi level indoor mall across from Hard Rock Cafe in Downtown Indy. I say nice but it had no TSC, Sears or speed shop so I could not find a thing for myself LOL. But my wife and kids loved it. If your wife likes expensive purses do not tell her about it as there are pretty good sales girls in there they even got me to buy one for my wife. LOL
