Should safety standards be held to that of the fastest car in the class, even for the slowest??
ie, should a V/S car have to have a roll cage, firesuit, full face helmet, etc. to match that of a AA/SA Cobra Jet. Just throwing this out there and consider this for a second; said Cobra Jet loses it about 1000' and runs over Mr. V/S, given the current safety rules what do you think the outcome would be for the AA/SA guy vs the V/S guy

About the same outcome as a 12 sec Super ET car vs. an 8 sec Super ET car.

I would agree all should have the same regulation. Same goes for comp. what would happen if one of the Pro Mod guys that choose to run in comp were to run over one of the little F/ED's? I also would throw in that the SFI regulations should be rated in MPH not quarter mile ET. How many S/C cars do you see that run 8.90 but are doing it at 180-190mph rather than 150mph?

Stock Elim should follow bracket rules, and vice versa.
Roll bar at 11.49 ET. Anything less is an insult to Stocker racers.

I use to be amazed at the difference between my super-gas car requirements and a friend of mine who had a SS/DA car. I had to have the full suit, gloves neck collar etc. and he got by with a thin jacket and a motorcycle helmet. This was some years ago, I haven't checked to see if S, SS have been brought up to same requirements as the .90 classes.

I think the rule needs to be by speed and not ET. That will bring a buch in line.

I don't think a V/S car should have the same rules as a AA/SA car..however I think there needs to be a standard regarding speeds,as in the case of a 180mph S/G car.

In Super Street there are two different sets of rules !
Depends if you run under 135 MPH or OVER 135 MPH ! I guess so the guys that need a 600 inch motor to go 10.90 will be safer.... :-) |
