Gentleman,
I am new here and found this site on Google while trying to find some info on my car that was raced from 1969-1976? by members of the Wilson Ford Drag club of Huntington Beach, Ca. The car was bought new by Tom Stafford and Norm Nevin in Aug. 1969 and raced in SS/HA class in the early days mostly at Lions and OCIR. It was yellow then and said "Stafford and Nevin" on the side. I am told it was then painted white sometime in the early '70's at the request of Foulger and not sure what it said on the side then but presumably still Stafford and Nevin. After being white it was painted red and blue when Stafford teamed with Marcel Cloutier about 73-74. According to the California Pink slip, which I have a copy of, Stafford sold it in '75 to Steve Steele who painted it silver and ran it under the name CrazyHorse on the Cloutier, Nevin and Steele Race Team. The car in question was originally a yellow 1970 Fastback Mustang Q code SCJ 4 speed. I am looking for any pictures of the car in it's early years in any color it may have been. Thanks in advance for any help or input. |

Let me know how you make out. I've started a Facebook group for Wilson Ford Drag Club and have located various former members who could help if necessary.

Thanks for the help. I have talked to Tom Stafford several times but Tom's pictures and documentation are all packed away in a Palm Springs, Ca storage facility and he keeps promising but never has delivered anything yet. Tom is apparently getting on in years and confused about some things as he first told me he sold my car to Barrie Poole of Canada which proved wrong. He then said is went to some guys in Oklahoma that was also wrong.
Just recently I talked to the 5th. owner who told me it came from California to Northern Indiana around '75 or '76 he thought but he definately remembers it being Silver and named Crazyhorse which I have been told by Randy Gillis on the Cobra Jet forum was Steve Steeles former car. Stafford told me that Norm Nevin now lives in San Diego but considering his memory problems I wouldn't bet on it. I have been on the fence for two years about weather to leave this car in it's original drag trim or take it back to stock. Since it is one of only 28 1970 SCJ plain Jane Sportsroofs I have decided to go back to stock since there is no significant drag history that I am aware of yet to justify leaving it alone. Still like to have some pics of the car from it's glory days however. Thanks for any help. |

Yes that's my car. There are more pics of it in the 1970 Gallery section of the CJ website. It is under the serial # 0F02Q102498. Thanks for posting. I don't know how to do links.

It is my understanding that the second mustang (Stafford/Marcel Cloutier)
has been owned by Curtis Coulter in Las Vegas for many years.

I had also heard Cloutiers 68 was still around too. There is an article about Cloutiers '68 and Stafford and Nevins '70 in the July '74 Super Stock and Drag Racing Illustrated. I have the book and posted the article in the thread on the CJ forum link. Incidently my car was sold new at McCoy and Mills Ford in Fullerton. Thanks
