I'm probably going to get ripped for this post but I really dont give a flying flock.
I see where there was a low turnout at this race.
What are the excuses for not going?
1)Low payouts
2)Too far to travel
And any you care to add.
Here's my take on it.NHRA doesn't pay much more and their entry fees are much higher. Most of the entrants
go home with zippo anyway. What kills me is that everyone complains about payouts but look at the self inflcted costs.Motorhomes for the rich and famous, stacker trailers the homeless would consider mansions, pit vehicles that cost more than some bottom line new cars, not to mention multi car drivers.I dont begrudge guys who have the means to do it that way but by the moaning it sounds like we're a bunch of welfare recipients being taken by NHRA.
Maybe if more people tried supportng IHRA the payouts would go up.How much can you pay out if you only get 22 SS/cars at a race.
I ran at MIR last week and was impressed at how they appreciated you being there.
At an IHRA Por-Am the R/U gets a payout,a hat and a winners circle picture.
Last year when I won Atco the DD was longgone when the picture was taken.I still like NHRA but I gained alot of respect for both the IHRA organization AND the racers. My .02cents

Byron is proving to be a challenge - the tower is the size of a phone booth and already has four people working in it, no phone lines, no Internet connection, and the reporter's cellular air card doesn't work at the track. He couldn't even find a flat place to set his laptop up in the tower, so he is working out of his car and his hotel room.

Since he was unable to work in the tower, race officials wouldn't let him take today's tech cards out of the tower to get driver names and such into his computer, so he had to wait until the end of today's activities and have them download the race info from the CompuLink timing system on a floppy disk. Meanwhile, he went out and bought an overpriced USB floppy drive so he coule read the driver info from the floppy and he is going to work on the reports tonight, in his hotel room.

Bottom line - maybe tonight, maybe in the morning for today's race, a little quicker for tomorrow's race since he will have all the driver info already loaded to get started with. Still won't be able to post anything until he leaves the track, however, and may not send anything until he gets back home tomorrow night.

Hey, we knew it wasn't going to be easy, many of the SREPA events are at small tracks with limited facilities. I enjoy visiting the smaller tracks, even though some of them do present a challenge for our reporters - most of them are run by people who do it because they are drag racing fans.
