Default Re: Dean Schulze Passes Away

Just heard about Dean. Sorry to hear about his passing. He was a fellow racer I always enjoyed seeing at the races.
Good man, good family, good racer. The most interesting memory I have is the Brainerd points race in 1996. Dean and
I were "stuck" in the front of staging/behind the burnout box ready for first round of SS for about 8 hours. Drizzle,
wait, dry, drizzle, wait, dry - seemed like forever. It was a "pre first round stress" all you can eat buffett! After
about six hours, it got to the point where I said to Dean "Hey Dean - how about we flip a coin and the "winner" can
either stay or leave!" (Stay was the likely pick - but you never know). I was completely serious - most races between
your average/decent racers approximate a coin flip anyhow. Dean was serious and said "no". He was a man of limited words-
but they were to the point. Less talk - more info - something I wish there was more of. Dean was there to race - and not
flip coins, which he could do at home if that was his goal. Dean was like the racers we have recently lost - someone
will take their place - but it won't be the same without them. Next time you're at the races and you are surrounded
by your fellow racers, remember those that can't be there, and appreciate those that are. Dean - you will be missed. RIP
