Just got off the glacier. Too hot at home, so Linda & I came up here to sit on a 1/4-mile of ice... I found out about the well blowout at the base of the glacier last week. No phone service until we got back to my brother's base camp. Only one small detail... NO SPRINT CONNECTION!
Back in Anchorage this evening, FINALLY getting all the details. Steve Kent (Rodger Brogdon's Sponsor) was hired to cap the well, and he informed me that they will give it their best shot early next week. NO OIL on our track property. Fortunately, we have been getting more than our share of a northerly breeze (sand yes Loretta, the well is a mile south). It appears that the well was being completed after the drilling rig was removed, and the firm experianced a greater than expected well pressure. (THAT MEANS THEY GOT PLENTY OF GAS UNDERGROUND) We will be back in Louisiana on Friday night and will get a better update on Saturday. Pat |

I hate to hear about this, for more than one reason ! I read the article in the link and the responses, and Pat, yours was priceless ! For now, we'll just watch and see how it progresses, and hope for the best. Did this happen on the left side of the track, out in the cane, or off to the right ?
Jimmy, you ok, over there ?

Kenny,
We are fine. The oil well is in the middle of the canefield near Hwy. 70, which is behind the end of the track. I haven't heard any word yet about rescheduling the division race, but I would imagine they are playing it by ear for a few more weeks.
