Default Cutting Racer cost to attend NHRA meets

With the large number of cars attending Points meets would it still be possible to Cut time trial or run on Friday so we could do double meets at one week end? Have four meets instead of 6 I know some track would be cut out of the finances of their meet but..
.. How about run S SS, and Comp at one week end meet twice at INDY points meet and . Run S/g, S/C, S/ST twice at the next location. Run Alcohol for crowd at one event or other or both. This could shorten the events and cut travel and hotel drastically. Negative would be not seeing friends in opposite groups of racers.
Meets would require less space in pits.Entry would be double at each event to make up the cash basis for the meet paying for two sets of points for racing and yet racers really cut the overall cost of traveling and hotels. The free week ends people could run locally if they wanted to race or ....
Six events going to 3 locations for S and SS and Comp. Six events for SG, SC and SST by going to 3 events. All the tracks take in similar entry moneyby double race double entry.
T/S and T/D could be split or added at Super meets
Do this one year or one set of meets for a test...Racers have stated IHRA double races were great..
I know I would have missed a lot of tracks if it were limited this way but this would help keep the similar numbers of racers able to participate.

If y'all would show up, the car counts would be higher.

I remember running NHRA Div. 1 events... took three days to run 1 race. I was just getting started in Stock at the time, so I took it as "that's how it was supposed to be", and took it all in as an experience. Now, I'm more than happy to run 2 events in 2 days.

If you want to see some light attended races this year, watch some of the NHRA Div 5 Points meets. It wouldn`t surprise me to see some Stock or Super Stock fields only go 5 rounds(32 car max)which I haven`t seen in 14 years. Hopefully I`m wrong. "The Hawk"

........and the season opener at Immokalee, FL was 3 races in 3 days!

The only down-side is winning a race late in the season after you get all your claims in!

Myron,
Never a downside to winning a race.

Greg,
Have you ever been to an IHRA double. The IHRA portion is usually done by the evening. Then the track takes over for a bracket race that you don't have to run.
Typical post I would expect from a traditional NHRA BRAINWASHED racer.

Doubles are great
2 claims in one weekend.
2 Chances at an ironman in one weekend.
Gone from home only one weekend
Towed to the track once.
What are you guys missing here. Oops I forgot Thats not the way NHRA does it.
Chip

Greg,
Have to agree with you on this, besides the three day-one race gives ya time to visit your racing buddy's. And at my age that's just about as much fun as racing. Aha to be your age,you kids are all alike...........................

36 is old?

Double-headers are rarely sleep-depriving. Heck, when I was a kid, we went to the NHRA Div. 1 race at Numidia. Drive 45 min to track Friday. Make 2 qualifying runs. Drive 1-1/2 hrs to Beaver Springs, race. Drive 45 min home. Saturday, drive 45 to Numidia, make 2 qualifying runs, drive to Billy Nees's shop, swap converters, drive to Beaver Springs again and race. Sunday, got busted 1st round in a heads-up run at Numidia, drive to Beaver Springs and race... so even with the large car counts and alky cars, there was time for me to run 6 races in three days.

Last year, made my two qualifying runs at Piedmont, drove 2-1/2 hrs to Pageland, runnered-up there, drove home, back to Piedmont Sunday and won. Douglas double-header, I was in the semis on Saturday, 6:14PM, semis at MIR 4:55PM. Darlington, made two qualifying runs, went to Pageland and won, and was back to Darlington before it rained Saturday night. Jackson, SC went long on Saturday last year, but that was due to rain forcing a full-track scraping, so that one *was* 2:30am when I won, but heck, we didn't run 2nd round until 12:43am. Sunday's race, I won at 4:34pm. I think it was like 9pm on Saturday night at Jackson the year before, and that's with a big car count, plus all the 'show' stuff.

What time did y'all finish up on Saturday at MIR, Chip? About 6:30?
