Default IHRA 2-day Pro Am Series

Long story short, went to the US 131 Martin Pro Am Friday and wanted to pay for one day race permit and a two day crew pass. I was told at the ticket booth that I would have to pay for both days race permit. I thought that this was two seperate days of racing. Did not like this but paid anyway. Any comments on this policy?

just asking why would you get a one day race but a 2 day crew pass?

In case of breakage on the first day and not knowing the policy.

They started that this year. They make you pay for both days at the gate with only one tech card instead of two separate cards like years before. If you don't want to run the second day they'll refund your second day back after first day completion.

Thank you, I asked if that was the policy and the person at the gate was not sure.

I liked it. It sure beats filling out two tech cards.

at the Atlanta 2 day you could pay one day at a time and the tech guys looked at the previous tech card went pretty smooth so if you could only be there one day you had to pay for 2 then get your money back

At our events like this weekend's Colonial Classic, we have different colored tech cards. They could easily do:
2-day: yellow
1-day: white
1-day (2nd day): blue
...for example.

We also issue run stickers which is an additional checksum.

This is true. They will refund your money no questions asked. This started this year. Hasn't been a problem that I've heard of. Jim

I am sure that there are some legitimate reasons why the tracks and or the IHRA are doing this.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to race any this year, so I don't have any first hand experience with the new ownership. In the past, some tracks have let us pay for one race at a time, however you did have to pay full weekend crew price at the gate.

Once you pay (if they make you pay for both races), they have your $$ and if the race is called for a rainout, you then have no choice but to come back, or redeem if for a certain % voucher at a pro-am race somewhere else.

Personally , in the age of computers and spreadsheets, I can't see how it is that hard to keep track of who has paid for 1 day, 2 days, etc.
