He made the pass. Just clicked it off early. On DRC is reads he clicked it off due to fuel leak. NHRA could have seen something at top end or maybe light at the scales.

Unless I have missed later qualifying runs, that was only after 1 session, and #16 is at 23.0 seconds, pretty sure Stewart`s crew can run that! DQ means disqualified, which could be anything from failing fuel check, being 5 pounds light at the scales, up to a major infraction. Plenty of people in every class have had a DQ in the first qualifying session, and corrected a minor issue, to get on the ladder in a later session. I wouldn`t read too much into it without having further information.

It could also mean skipping the scales after a busted run. Stewart ran 12.098/81.71 in the last pair of the session. Karl Brounkowski ran 5.474/247.39 in the first pair on a no-comment run and was also marked DQ on the initial sheet.
And congratulations to Angelle Sampey on her four-wheel debut. |

I think it's cool that he jumped into drag racing and certainly that helps the "brand recognition" part of drawing new spectators. The cars he used to drive in circles would probably fit FS/G so maybe some of the Nascar fans who can't identify with 30 foot long narrow dragsters might get into Stock and Super Stock?
And yeah, Angelle did well, got to the Semis in her debut. |
