Default Keeping old numbers when changing divisions?

I recently moved from NHRA Division 6, to Division 1. I have had the same NHRA Competition number since the mid 70s, I was wondering if it would be OK to keep the same number, or if I have to apply for a Div.1 number. I know when Brad Burton moved from Colorado to Washington , he retained his Div.5 number, but maybe being a former National Champion comes with special privileges? If possible, would I need to keep signed up in Div.6, or in Div.1 and ask to keep my old number? I don`t know if it coincidence or not, but my NHRA member number also starts with a 6, I wonder if changing Divisions would effect that as well.

Like Mike said and your NHRA membership number and Competition numbers are completely separate. Both beginning with a 6 is just a coincidence. Good luck in D1, may take a while for your webbed toes to return to normal though LOL.

I kept my division 5 number when we moved to division 4 back in the 1990's.
I have been asked by the tech group, when they still did tech, if I was confused when I live in division 4 had a division 5 number and claimed division 7 for points.
I just told them I live in a state of confusion!
That was good enough.
After this year we just have to keep it fun somehow.
Just My 2 Cents

Holy crap , Rory. I thought moving north of Edmonton Alberta from Coquitlam BC was a big move. Did you bring both cars with you. Good luck with your move.

Good luck Rory. I will miss seeing the Fairmont at the Super Shifters events at Bremerton and Pacific. Cool to watch. Do you still have the Mustang?

At least there is a drag strip in the area you moved to.
