Talking Gainesville Follies - Another way to lose ! ! !

I couldn't resist - this little diddy came at me and I just had to share with you folks .Yes , I've been quiet for some time now but Winters almost over and soon I'll be coming at you with some race tales .But for now I'll share this with you - but the names won't be mentioned to protect the innocent .

Its the final round of class for this well known Stock/SuperStock racer and couldn't be happier as he wasn't even going to run for the Wally but a close friend talked him into it by telling him he needed more seat time and some runs on his fresh engine .Plenty of time between the semi and final round so no rush .Battery charged - check, gas filled - check , tires aired up - check , engine iced up - check .So its to the lanes all ready and confident .

After a strong burnout its to the tree we go .Top of ready light - then the bottom and here we go .After hitting the gas it was heartbreak - pop - bang - wizz , you name it and it was there - it just wouldn't run right and the "other" guy got the Wally .So close and yet so far .

So its a long ride back to his pit - mad , dejected and disbelief .How could this happen he thought and would soon find out .What could he have possibly forgot ? Did a crewman forget to attach something ? Nope - so under the hood he went looking for the culprit .Didn't take long - as soon as he opened the hood there it was in plain sight .But whose fault was it? His fault - nope , a crewman - nah , you won't believe it but it was his wife who turned out to be the culprit .She was trying to help - had a cold bottle of water and set it on the radiator to help cool it off and you guessed it - someone closed the hood .Everything was fine until he hit the gas on takeoff and where did the bottle land - like they say a picture is worth a thousand words ..............The good news - he took it like a true sportsman without a harsh word to his wife ! ! ! !
