Neighbor has a decent restored '67 Comet Cyclone 'Vert, 390 automatic, he'd like to sell. It's a sweet looking beast, even though it's pale (lighter) yellow. Been away from Fords for a long time but, Thinking the finances may come around soon to allow me to have another racer. If that happens I'd love to, come join the battle, in the Stock ranks.
Looks as though the car would be a natural E/SA, if I'm figuring the classification guide correctly. Tough company for sure! Looked around a very little bit and haven't seen too many 390's, in class runoffs. Thanks for any input, Mike. |

Off the top of my head, there aren't too many 390s out there that aren't competitive...
R.J. Sledge's 390 Fairlane was a great car. Scott Cook's Mustang from MN is very fast. You have Bob Johnson's Mustang, the Hall family's Mustangs, Russell Johnson's Fairlane. Even Stuart Goertzen's Cougar which is racing this weekend in Topeka. I believe that all of those cars have won class at one point or another. With effort (and $$$ of course), I think it's good enough combo to be competitive. |

It is plenty competitive and it will stop traffic when it pulls into the lanes. All of the 390 cars that have effort put into them run good. There are going to be very few "new" cars that fit f or g which is more than likely where will want to be.

The late Roger Rices 66 Cyclone 2 dr hardtop normally ran in G and H. A convert is heavier, so keep that in mind. Also the HP factors vary depending on which heads are used.
