In Top Fuel, it isn't the drivers that are slow to react.
I am glad to see Dave getting a ride, I hope it is a good solid full time ride.

There are a few Super class past champions in the fuel classes already that would be racking up .00's if it was possible!

Take a look at a past Super Comp champion's average light in Top Fuel. I'm sure the stats are out there.
I think Dave is a great driver, a great racer, and a great guy. But knowing some of the guys in Top Fuel, I figure the driver can only do so much. If you think he's going to be killing the tree with double 00 lights, I don't think even Dave will agree with you.

I'm not taking this very seriously.
The point is, Shawn Langdon had a light not much different than the winner of the race you posted. I'm a fan of both Dave and his father Ray, both as racers and as people. I just have reasonable expectations of what anyone, even Dave, can do with a Top Fuel car on the starting line. I've talked to my friend Scott Palmer about it several times. People a lot smarter than any of us, with a lot more money, have tried for years to figure out how to get lights better than 0.080 on a consistent basis. I'd love for Dave to go out and lay down a string of 0.040 or better lights and prove me wrong. But what I really want is to see Dave have a rock solid competitive ride, for a long time to come.
