Default Question for Ed Wright

Ed,
My father and I were looking through the 1971 Christmas issue of National Dragster this past weekend and noticed that you were the national record holder at the end of the season in N/S with your 225hp 265 2 door post at 13.10.
We were wondering if you (or anyone else) ever dipped into the 12's with this combination prior to the rule change obsoleting these cars in stock?

Thanks,
Chad

Yes, Sonny Bryant, myself and the Ronca Brothers all ran some 12s. I never raced, met, or saw the Ronca boys, but Sonny did. Sonny ran them in class at Indy one year. He told me they were the fastest of us. I know I never could run their MPH record.
May have been others go that fast (or faster), but we three are the only ones I know about.

Think Tom drove, can't recall the other brother's name. Never did figure out they ran the MPH they did. Probably Truppi & Kling power. I just cobbled my own crap together. Still do.
