Anyone have a car with a swing out bar AND a window net ? Buddy of mine wants to put a swing out bar in his car..I've been told thats ok on a cert'd chassis, but wondering how to mount the window net. I was considering using a seat belt buckle style mount and once the bar is closed, then clip in the bottom and top...
Suggestions or examples ???

i usually just use a custom net with the right shape so the bottom attaches right to the door bar with a rod , and use buckles up top front and rear. so it can just swing out with the bar.

Dave,
Tell your Buddy to foreget the swing out bar. When he gets to the track in the morning we will help stuff him the car and leave him there for the day. End of day we put a case of ice cold beer on the ground about 6 foot away from his car and watch him get out real quick!!

Dave ,pm me your E-mail address and I'll send you a picture of the net on the DragPak I built.
It has a swing out bar with the net bolted to the bar with a bracket that mounts the net and also stores the net so it does not drag on the ground. No mattrt what you do ,you'll need a custom net.

Sorry I did'nt get a chance to send an E-mail ,I've been going nuts trying to get everybodys work done .
Here are a few shots of my setup . Similer to what Mark suggested, altho I dont like the rod attachment, since the net wants to slide down the rod. Stroud makes my nets and they match my patterns every time.

What do you mean by "US" old guys??? As for your friend and the Bar thing, the beer deal I suggested will only work if he loses first roud. If he gets LUCKY and goes rounds, his head gets so big nothing will get him out of that car. So I suggest an escape hatch kinda like funny car. We can cut big azz hole in the roof.

I just did this to my Chevelle last year. I would recommend the Alston swing out bar with the sliding locking sleeve. I bought the Stroud window net kit from Bickel and used a STT regular window net.
