Default LODRS on ESPN

Anybody else watching this? The only cool thing I saw so far was a super stocker with the wheels in the air and and as soon as it landed they went to alky stuff, I hope Iam not wasting my time with this.

Well I kinda knew I wasting my time watching but I thought I would give it a chance. I guess that's 30 minutes I will never get back. They just showed the final rounds of the so called back bone of drag racing. It sure would of been nice to at least get an interview of fletcher with his 72nd win but no as soon as they cross the finish line goodbye. Instead they talk about Manzo winning 200 races congrads to him for beating on a class that I thought was meant to be a stepping stone to move up to nitro funny car. You can't tell me he doesn't move up because he doesn't have the sponsors or enough of his own money. And the funniest thing was seeing the dragster guy celebrating and yelling and grunting like he just got done having sex. All in all I thought it was a joke.

It WAS an hour show, just preempted for a half an hour by Vanderbilt-LSU baseball(!). Maybe about a minute of stock and super stock coverage, very poor camera angles IMO!

This coverage has really gotten worse in the last few years. I remember it wasn't too long ago they actually let Bob Frey really do his thing, now it's just the Alcohol classes. Too bad, really - this could be a good way to introduce the real sportsman classes to the motorsports fan who's unfamiliar with this part of the sport.

Another missed opportunity by NHRA and ESPN!

This is old news, the coverage has been this way for years.
Don't watch it anymore just like I don't watch the pro "show".

Such a shame because the Stock final had the amazing Hawk and Cook shelby and I felt like as soon as they cut to that final the lights were already coming down and the kick *** wheelstand had already started. Then they showed Fletcher and Cantusci for a nice 3-5 seconds.

I honestly believe the show would get more views if they showed the last 2 rounds of stock and superstock and the announcers tried to explain in roughly 20-30 seconds how the handicap system works. Cut out the first round of alcohol if you have to and preserve the time.

1. People like wheelstands and close finishes.
2. Sponsors like TV exposure.
3. Many of us little guys could really use some sponsorship assistance.

They've been calling the Sportsman part of the National Events the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series to differentiate it from the "Go Fast/Go Boom" Poweraide/Full Throttle program, at least on ESPN.

SStock1373 - That's pretty much what I've been saying for a while. But as long as NHRA is paying ESPN to produce and broadcast the races, we'll get less and less exposure. Figure it this way - The Wheelstand Contest at Byron Dragway has gotten more airtime than all the Stock/Super Stock races this season COMBINED!
