You can take the wife and two kids to the NASCAR race at Martinsville Speedway for a package deal of $104.00. An article in the Washington Post says all the tracks are having a tough time filling the seats. Some of the tracks are drapping huge advertising banners over the empty seats and offering lots of incentives/financial inducements to the fans. Atlanta is also offering a family of four package at a cost of $159.00.
Wonder if drag racing is having the same problem?

Probably,
but they don't seem to offer fans much of a deal. They can get thier money back by charging the racers a sur-charge, making you pay to bring in a pit bike, etc. Pretty soon, we will be paying for a pit space too for each race we go to.

Bruce-You're right- don't know about the NHRA but NASCAR is trying hard to fill the seats -- we recently bought a package for the '09 Daytona 500 at almost half price -- maybe the NHRA should take notice.......

Had a discussion with upper management at Firebird in AZ about this very same thing for the Div races. Buy one get one free, discount for multiple purchases. What he saw was that free makes the track no money and they have to make a profit so discount would not work either. It costs nothing to fill a currently empty seat. But a occupied seat could bring track apparel sales and food concession sales up. Could not see the forest through the trees.

After some hurricanes in Fl. a round track gave free admission to all the spectators. They sold out of everything they had at the concessions. All any track has to do is lower the price to get in and have a no cooler rule they will fill the stands and make money from the consessions. Hammer |

There isnt a dragstrip in the country that can hold 1/2 that much less the ADRL tracks. The only way they can do that is a sponsor pays the purse. Herb Jr |
