That was a very rare '55 Chevy, with the special order ejector seat option. That car was to be used in the upcoming James Bond film,"Live, and Let My Racecar kill Me". The seat was purchased by NASA, because they have never seen anything fly that high without using rocket fuel.

That video has been out for around 30 years now, its an oldie but still a goody. It was part of a series of tapes available at the Super Chevy shows years ago when Rob Vandergriff had his 57, and Charles Carpenter ran his earlier 55 on the circuit around the country, and that was in the middle 80s if I remember correctly.

Never noticed until it re-wound the the guy "standing" there was actually the ejected driver. Lucky man, he was.

I believe that was at the GREAT Fremont Raceway. And the filming was done by Jamie or Sonny Jackson.
You could get the complete video from the Jackson Bros.in Fairfield ,Cal.or online.
Fremont was a great track with GREAT air most of the time....last time I was there it was just a big empty field......:-(
