First of all , Love me some Jammin Jerry Emmons . Sure wish I had a camera phone back in the day when he was sporting that TEENAGE MUTANT license plate on the stocker . Going back a few decades when Pyroil tire shine was the rage ..It appears as though D4 was playing some hardball at their latest race …I wonder if this may be the end of the smoke em at the finish line ?????

I?d say he?d been given a pretty long leash given his past and it just reached the end and snapped. That said the enforcement is so dependent on who the driver and officials are it?s always going to be inconsistently enforced. Doubt the severity of the punishment will change much simply because there is no certainty of punishment.
Might start a poll on how much people are willing to hold when they dial?that?s part of it.

Very true, but there?s always the human factor. Even Jody messes up occasionally, not often mind you but it happens.

Here's what I know, the best at this game aren't dialing honest and aren't under full power going across the stripe.

As we all know, Jerry is one the finest people in NHRA Sportsman Racing.
He would certainly never go out of his way to purposely flirt with any of the established rules. I would bet if anyone looked into this deeper, they would find with all of the new braking products on the market, that Jerry was testing a new brand or style of brakes, before he let the rest of his drivers put them on their cars. Case in point, a Div. 5 racer had installed a set of the new offerings(Brakes) on his car prior to the Earlville LODRS, and it completely locked up the rear tires on the first run. So in light of what might be a better way of looking at the possible reasons for premature brake lock up, I would suggest that NHRA refund the fine that they levied, and issue Jerry a cheque for $10,000.00 for any embarrassment they make have caused to Jerry, his family or partners. Jerry Emmons is a great racer and equally good and decent guy, but is also one of the most highly scrutinized finish line drivers in the sport. If you look back, you'll see he was also penalized for excessive braking in 2023, and for two instances in 2022. His driving style draws extra attention, fairly or not.

Warren, I think I realize the things that you said. I was trying to bring some
higher brow levity to the site in a way that would entertain Jerry. Everything that is said on this site lately has been subjected to a large amount of scrutiny, and there is a better way to go through life. Regards, J.R. |
