I'm planning on a cross country trip with my stocker soon, and I'll be making several trips across the George Washington and Throgs Neck bridges, continuing on I-95 and I-78 in PA. Is it practical or even possible to get an EZPass from out of state for these trips?
Are there cash toll lanes available? Do they have huge delays? Do they do photographs of license plates and bill by mail? Any information on this is much appreciated. |

I went to amazon and bought a "Unipass" transponder, then activated it through Unipass. They cover all the states (even Florida!) that have toll roads, even had the option to add a trailer.

EZ pass from Maryland is free. Not sure you can get one in the mail or not ? There is a substantial difference in the Tolls with it compared to not having it. I drive from Maryland to Boston pretty regularly and just having it for the New Jersey Turnpike and the GW bridge is worth it.
Here is an example: https://www.panynj.gov/bridges-tunnels/en/tolls.html

PA has no cash tolls anymore. If a car doesn't have an EZ PASS they toll by license plate , at a higher rate than the pass.

I ordered a Epass from Amazon it's from Florida. Just set up a account online. So far it's worked fine in MD and PA. Used it in the RV towing the trailer and in my daily driver.

Please be advised - this is just in case - you can not use a commercial vehicle and trailer on any Parkways in New York. You can use an APP like Ways or Map Quest if you get yourself in trouble be you'll need to put in for a Commercial Route because our Parkway bridges are low, height wise. I don't know the size of your vehicle, but all of our commercial routes can accommandate anything else. Possible best travel times on GWB and Cross Bronx are from Midnight till about 4:30 AM and then from 11:00 AM till about 12:30 PM. After that - it's a crap shoot ! You better be on your toe's also any lane including the shoulders are fair game. They'll cut you off on the right and then tell you you're wrong ! It's New York baby and the natives don't take prisioners! Enjoy your Trip. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |
