I just has a quick question regarding grade points at Nationals Opens. I was always told by everyone I know that if you participate in a national open and a divisional in the same weekend that you get 2 grade points (such as this past weekend at Numidia). Prior to this weekend I had 3 grade points, I participated in both the National Open and Divisional at Numidia and just looked and it shows me as having only 4 grade points, so they have updated it but only added 1.
I looked at the page that NHRA links to (http://www.nhra.net/apcm/templates/n...articleid=2537) and on the page it says "Drivers are limited to one grade point per vehicle, per calendar week (Monday to Monday)". So based on my reading of that if you race in both a national open and a divisional in the same weekend you only get one grade point? Yet everyone I know say that you get 2 for it, I just wanted to have an understanding before I call the division office. I know last year I got 2 grade points for attending the double header there too. Last edited by bsimms89; 07-11-2023 at 10:53 AM. |

I believe it’s an average of the past 3 years grade points combined to produce an average, so even though you ran 2 races the average of those 2 races over 3 years only amount to a 1 race increase.
I could be wrong but, it’s how it was explained to me |

Averaging only comes into play when you have no grade points due to extended inactivity and you specifically request them to average the last 3 years so that so you can get into a National upon your return to racing. Call the D1 office and they should get it fixed so you get two grade points. The language you quoted was prior to the now popular NO/D doubles.

It is only tuesday, wait a few days and it may get corrected, if not, call the div office, you should get 2 for last weekend as long as you ran and paid for both the open and the lodrs events

From what I've been told after calling I was given credit for the divisional, but not the National Open and they do not know why. They're trying to get it sorted out, I should have 5.

Once you log in and go to your online tech card it will show you how many grade points you have.
