Announcer at D4 race in Ennis!!!

NO Disrespect to any other Radio jockey..in our division or any other...lord knows we have many great ones out there....BUT It was brought to my attention by quite a few racers how nice it was to hear the soothing...no that's not it...unmistakable...well sort of......OK the UNK on the loud speaker!!!
Many attempt to report the obvious, to the sometime oblivious, and pass helpful info along to the masses, but it is welcome noise at least to my ears... to hear Mr. Unkefer flap his gums, and be interesting and insightful to fans and racers alike....Not to mention his constant references to a not too shabby a mike man who is having a rough time health wise(Mr.Nickerson), trying to raise funds in his I'm sure massive health care expenses.
No I am not blowing smoke up Unk's behind.....many who know me know I could sometimes give a rats butt about some things...however I felt it necessary to give props to Bob, and his antics, over the mic!!!
Many people take those things for granted, but during downtime for clean up, its nice to listen to some one who knows what they are talking about, in any of the classes, not just Stock or Superstock, or Comp....which by the way is an interesting class to follow or understand to many a fan & racer too. Just my $.02, but those classes are where its at!!!, the others Unk makes tolerable...if you catch my drift!!
So, NHRA, thankx for allowing UNK to prattle on endlessly on D4, you made a wise decision, we are keeping him...if just for a little while...Your LOSS our Gain.( possible inside joke)
Although Bob is a fill in for Lynn, and should be commended for helping his good friend, and thus is a temporary YAPPER.....I just wanted to say thanks UNK, you did and continue to do a heck of a job...see you in Baytown....or better yet HEAR you in Baytown...OH wait....nevermind that was years ago!!

The guy at the Houston div race needs to come to the nats and observe Unk and learn from him. He has a good voice but has no clue on drag racing 101.

I feel Unk does a great job as he doesnt joke around that much while racing is going and tells what is going on down the track, I get tired when i hear announcers trying to make jokes on pa 99% of the time and just doesnt tell us who is out there what car they have , ect ect, ect.

I watched livetiming and video most of the weekend, you did great Unk!

Some people are better seen not heard, UNK is definitely the opposite. (Have you seen that mug? lol) All jokes aside it was a pleasure to listen to, in my opinion the best announcer in all of Drag Racing. I hate hearing guys make up stuff to say and misinforming the less knowledgeable fan. For example I've been at National events and had to listen to some announcer say in qualifying "Dan Flecther shuts off at 1000ft! He must have broke something folks!" or in eliminations "Jimmie Hutto gets the bye run this round because he had the best RT in the previous round!" REALLY??? Not only is he the best behind the mic but he's been known to get behind the wheel and mix it up with the best of the best Stock Eliminator racers too! Unk is the man!!!
