A new, in the box GM 3.08 gear set is of course my first choice, however, I realize that is not a very realistic expectation.
My next choice is a real nice, used GM set. [when I say GM, I am referring to a factory, General Motors produced set] This is for a Chevrolet 12 bolt, 1964 - 1972 year models. [car] My last choice is a new, aftermarket set. Let me know what you have. Thanks

Bobby,
this is for a white glove, very fine street car and must be quiet. I my experience, many times a Richmond and other aftermarket gears while fine for racing are too noisy for such an application. The 3.73 gears in the car now are completely quiet and the owner will not be pleased with gear noise. [it is an original factory set] Also, GM no longer has the 3.08 set. By posting here, I hope someone notices my need. There might be an OE gear out there some where.

A very nicely done, 1969 El Camino with 396. The car is quite and smooth, just needs less gear. When I was young, I thought 3.73 was about right for the street. Now, [my age is 62] it feels like you need at least two more up shifts. [smile]
