Default Re: 1955 Chevrolet Q/SA Build

My good buddy Mike C and I are back to work 55 Q/SA project. The body I have needs some work as the roof was patched with a huge pc of fiberglass mat. When I took the windshield out, I noticed remnants of a old vinyl top. Probably put on in the 70s, or early 80s. Moisture under it caused the roof panel to rust very bad. I cut the roof panel off and cleaned the mounting surfaces, A 2 day job. We used 3M panel adhesive to mount the panel back on. I was very carefull not to damage the headliner, since it was in fairly good condition. Also pictured is the frame. I had it blasted, and powdered coated. There is a place about a hour north of me that will do that for $300. Heck of a deal. This week I plan on finishing up the floor, and trunk patching, and next week getting the rebuilt frame back under the body. I might add that the roof panel was a reproduction. It fit fairly good. We did need to do a little metal trimming on it at the A pillar.
