Default 2020 Season Update

The COVID-19 pandemic has had major impacts on the sport of drag racing and the All Star Racing Association will also see those affects. First and foremost, we hope that the supporters of ASRA, along with their friends and families, are all staying healthy and safe during these challenging times.

The board of directors have met and wanted to communicate some details on the upcoming 2020 season such that individuals had clarity as to what our strategy is. Please be patient as there is still so much unknown with the pandemic and a lot that needs to fall into place before organized racing can start back up in the Northeast.

Current Plan (as of 5/3/2020):
The first race scheduled to take place on May 17, 2020 at Lebanon Valley will be canceled. With so much uncertainty in the track schedules and the NHRA schedule, we will not attempt to reschedule this race for later in the year. This means that the ASRA season will only be a 5 race season set to start the weekend of June 27th and 28th at Lebanon Valley. Other dates remain unchanged.

The points championship will be determined by accumulating the best 4 of 5 races and the shoot-out will be based on the first 4 races. If the association is forced to delay the first two races on June 27th and 28th, we will attempt to reschedule those races. We will work with the tracks and around the NHRA schedule as best as possible.

Back-up Plan B:
If COVID-19 forces further cancellations and a full 5 races can not be achieved, the association will proceed with a 4 race season. There will be an attempt to reduce this to two double race weekends (1 at Lebanon Valley and 1 at New England). The points championship will be determined using 4 out of 4 races. An attempt will still be held to hold a shoot-out at the conclusion of the 4th race (using points earned at all 4 races).

Back-up Plan C:
If COVID-19 prevents ASRA from having a 4 race season, the BOD has decided that we would not run a normal ASRA program. Points would not be accumulated and membership dues would not be collected (those already paid could either be refunded or have their membership transferred to 2021 at their discretion). ASRA will still try to implement some races with payouts and entries at the gate (explicit details to be determined at a later date).

Other Notes:
  • In alignment with the plans identified above and due to the impacts of COVID-19 on the sport of drag racing, ASRA has made the decision to reduce the 2020 membership to $300.
  • Sponsors will be reached out to individually to discuss current options for the 2020 season.

We appreciate the support of our racers and sponsors as ASRA tries to do its best to navigate through these challenging times. If there are any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to one of the ASRA board of directors or by emailing allstarracingassociation@gmail.com.

Thanks,

ASRA Board of Directors
