Default Re: Race #11 & #12 at CP

Sunday Race Results:

We started out the day with the "Spirit of Karen Hardee Warren" Award presentation. This is the 2nd year of Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway & CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association doing this award & it will continue to be awarded at each November race. This year's recipient was Mr. Avery McLawhorn. If you are apart of the CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association, there is no explanation needed as to why Avery was chosen for this award. THANK YOU Brother for all of you for us!!! Next up was the Warren Engines Dash for Cash. Dennis Pope put that blue Camaro on the bumper at the hit with his .072 RT & ran a 6.953 at 94.1 mph on his 6.95 dial to receive $100.00 & eligibility for the 1st Round Bye Run. A random tech card was drawn from both races for the Half Moon Marketplace "Act of Giving Back" award & Ronnie Yopp Jr. was the winner of the Visa gift card. We had 2 cars suffer parts failure & was unable to make the first round call so we had 37 cars compete in 1st round. Joe Huestis, first time racing with us on a Sunday in a while, found himself on the losing end of his run during round #1. He received the Victory Lane Golf Carts Best Losing Package award. Mr. Joe had a .085 RT, ran 8.771 at 73.88 mph on his 8.77 dial. The Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants 2nd Round Best Losing Package went to Curtis Smith Racing (Sr) for his tough 2nd round loss. Curtis was .012 on the tree & ran a 7.164 at 92.75 mph on his 7.11 dial. He got a 5 gallon pail of PRO 112+ racing fuel. Lee Truell was our lone semi-finalist for today's race. He staged up against Al Brister but this one was over at the start when Lee lit the red bulb by .054. He went on to run a 6.023 at 113.05 mph on his 5.99 dial. In the finals, we had Raymond Roland & Al Brister. Raymond took the starting line advantage, .018 to Al' .032, & carried it on to victory. Raymond was dialed a 6.59 & ran 6.598 at 100.86 mph. Al was dialed 6.61 & ran a 6.605 at 96.95 mph. Raymond added yet another Eagle trophy to his collection or Dennis Pope calls them, "screaming eagle". He also received a large trailer check courtesy of MJ Printing & Graphics, a $100.00 gift certificate to ATI Performance Products, & a $300.00 gift certificate to QA1. Al, with an emotional wife Teresa, by his side received a smaller trailer check courtesy of MJ Printing & Graphics, a $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, a $50.00 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products, & a $50.00 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises. All of CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racers & crew were excited to have Al & Teresa back with us for the 1st time since Mrs. Teresa had her medical scare back a few months ago. We all love you Mrs. Teresa!!!! Raymond Roland kept collecting envelopes from his round 2 win as he received the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan award for his .001 RT, the Wayside Landscapes & Supply Bounty Hunter award for taking out Saturday's race winner HIllarey Sloan, & the Crew Chief Pro Software Best Winning Package for his .008 package (.001 RT 6.627at 99.76 mph on his 6.62 dial). Cooter Williamson & Korey Alexander both received the McLawhorn Racing Hard Luck Award. Cooter lost oil pressure on his engine during eliminations on Saturday evening & Korey lost a transmission during today's Dash for Cash. Ed McLawhorn received the Gutters by Design/Worst RT award for his .450 RT, transbrake stuck, during round 3 of eliminations. Homer Carty received the Butner Construction Sportsmanship award. Homer put Korey Alexander in his Chevy II for round 1 eliminations & he filled the seat of the Gary Peterson Camaro since Korey's crew was unable to get his transmission repaired in time for R1. Then those 2 got paired up in Round #2 here Korey then broke Homer's ride & tried his hardest to back over me (Tabitha) on the line.

CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association racing is in the books for yet another year. We continue to grow each year & hope racers are already planning to race with us in 2024. The final points spreadsheet will be posted a little later & also be on the watch for the banquet info for some time in January. The schedule will also be released very soon. I am in search for both returning & new sponsors for next year so if you know of a business interested in any amount of sponsorship, please have them to reach out to me!

THANK YOU ALL FOR A SUCCESSFUL 2023 RACING SEASON!! Much love to all of y'all!!!!
