Dave Lebrun/ Alan Peters Memorial Race

On January 16, 2019 David Lionel Lebrun of Uncasville Ct. Passed away and a short three weeks later Alan Richards Peters of Enfield Ct. Passed away on February 5, 2019.
Both Great Connecticut Drag racers that devoted their lives to the sport of Drag racing.

A group of Friends, Relatives, and Racers have established a “Memorial Race” In Celebration of both of their lives.
The Memorial Race will take place in conjunction with the scheduled ASRA race on Sunday June 23, 2019 at Lebanon Valley New York.

We are seeking “Financial Support” to help fund what should be an Amazing Stock/ Super Stock race. It is expected to attract well over 100 Stock/ Super Stock cars. It is our hope of many, that you consider supporting the Memories of these Great Racers.

Dave Lionel Lebrun:
Was born in November 15 1938. He died at the age of 80 January 16, 2019.
In April of 1971 Dave opened L&L Machine in Groton Ct. There he built high performance race engines, antique restoration and street motors.
Dave’s passion was his race cars. He had twin 1969 Camaro’s and many Corvettes. He won several National races and titles. He was inducted into the Hall of fame for the National Hot Rod Association in 1994, the All Star Racing Association in 2012 and in the Orientals Hot Rod Club in 2014. He was the Divisional One Champion for the Northeast Division Three Times. He won the National Wrench award seven times from NHRA. He was honored with the Auto Achievement Award from the Norwich Chamber of Commerce in 2014. David won the Grand Nationals Race in Sanair Canada in 1971 and in 1982. The Summer Nationals Race in Englishtown N.J. in 1975. He won the Keystones National Race in Reading Pa. in 1989 and the US Nationals in in Indianapolis Ind. In 1987. A 7-Time ASRA Champion David received the Peter Moran Sportsman of the Year award in 2004, and The Nate Cohen Memorial Award in 1983 for his significant contribution to the Stock/ Super Stock category of drag racing.

Alan Richards Peters:
Was born November 16, 1942. He passed away February 5, 2019.
Many, If not most of his friends knew Al primarily as a World Champion Drag racer. Driving his 69 Camaro “Endless Flight” Alan traveled the country competing in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Stock Class. He won countless races throughout his lifetime and received many honors and accolades for his sportsmanship. NHRA National events include the 1978 Spring Nationals, Summer Nationals and Grand Nationals. In 1981 he won the Sports Nationals, the 1984 Spring Nationals, and the 1987 Grand Nationals in Sanair Canada. He was also the winner of several divisional and class championships. In 1984 Al won the NHRA Stock World Championship. Alan not only made it to the TRW Sportsman race in 1985, 1986, 1987 but won all three years in a row. He was Car Craft Magazine Driver of the Year in 1984. Alan also set many records. For those that met him at race tracks around the country from the first minute you met Al he treated you like you were friends.
