I remember this like it was yesterday: Dave & Greg Smith (Pro Trans guys) at OCIR in late '78 or '79 running SS/IA. Rare mineshaft conditions 37 degrees with a slight tail wind. Index at the time was 11.38, record was (I believe) 10.96 held by Bobby Warren(?). Greg clicks off a couple 11 ohs, then a 10.9 something, then a 10.89, finally a

10.85. With records only a few tenths under the index, that was considered an astounding feat back then.
