The machine shop I use (MACH Development) recently took a crate engine 6.1L SRT-8 (comes comlete with oil in the crankcase and stock exhaust manifolds) out of the crate and went straight to the dyno. After testing they added larger injectors. At the end of the day, stock cam, stock manifolds, only ignition / fuel re-curve along with larger injectors....550 HP. He said it idled so smooth you could barely hear it running.
Adding some sort of short-stack quasi- Hillborn injector manifold unit brought out 600 HP.
Seems to me they said 22 degrees timing was stock and they brought it up to 28, 30 or 32 degrees and that alone added 50 HP.
