Default Re: Race #7 & #8 @ Coastal Plains Dragway

Shew we, where do I even start at?!?! First off, a special THANK YOU to Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway for inviting us to their track after we were cancelled at GALOT Motorsports Park. WE DID IT AGAIN!!! We got 2 races completed in 1 day.

Saturday Race #1 Results:

We started out early on Saturday morning to try to get ahead & beat the weather. We had our 1 qualifying run & then our Warren Engines sponsored Dash for Cash. "The Showstopper" (in his own &#128064 🤣, Brent Pozzi took the first $100.00 of the day!!! He was dialed a 6.70, had a 0.057 RT & ran dead on his dial with a 0 at 99.77 mph to collect the money & eligibility for 1st Round Bye Run. There were 10 total dead on runs with another dead 0 so we had to go to RT to declare Brent the winner. We had 27 cars make first round call after losing 2 cars to breakage either during the 1st qualifying run or Dash for Cash. In round #1, Avery McLawhorn received a losing ticket but it would have won in most cases. The losing ticket is attached in the photos. With his losing ticket, he was awarded the Victory Lane Golf Carts 1st Round Best Losing Package & $50.00 Cash. Avery was dialed on a 6.89, had a 0.026 RT & ran a 6.900 at 95.02 mph. Round 2 Best Losing Package sponsored by Ford's Fuel and Propane/ Renegade Race Fuels & Lubricants went to Mr. Joe Collins who just happened to be looking to purchase 5 gallons of PRO 112+ racing fuel. I'm sure he would have rather purchased it than been awarded it for a loss but either way he got it. He was dialed a 7.09, had a 0.023 RT, & ran a 7.149 for the loss. In the Semi's, we had 2 tough runs & could have been a coin flip either way. On the losing side of those 2 runs were Kevin Locklear losing to Phil Hilling & Homer Carty losing to Hillarey Marshall. Kevin was dialed a 6.66, had a 0.016 RT, & broke out running 6.651 at 98.80 mph. Homer was dialed a 6.24, had a 0.024 RT, & also broke out running 6.227 at 109.76 mph. In the finals, we had a Mopar versus a Camaro. Both were dialed very close but the big difference on the victory came from the starting line. Hillarey Marshall came out on top of Race #1 on Saturday. She was dialed 6.26, had a 0.028 RT, & ran a 6.283 to claim victory of the coveted CCRA-Carolina Class Racers Association Eagle trophy, trailer check, $300.00 gift certificate from QA1, & a $100.00 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products. Mr. Phil was dialed a 6.25, had a 0.099 RT, & ran 6.272 for the final round loss. He was giving Leigh Anne & I money for a pedicure (inside joke) if he won so now I guess we have to pay for our own. 🙂 Mr. Phil also received a trailer check courtesy of MJ Printing & Graphics, $100.00 gift certificate from Altronics Inc, $50.00 gift certificate from Meziere Enterprises, & a $50.00 gift certificate from ATI Performance Products. Hillarey was also the winner of the Auto Plus Service Center Paul Bunyan "Best Reaction Time" award for her .001 in the semi's against Homer. The Hard Luck Award sponsored by McLawhorn Racing went to 2 races this particular because we felt both were deserving of a "little pick me up". It took Homer & Sandy Carty 10 hours to make a 6 hour trip to Coastal Plains Raceway Park Dragway on Friday evening after having trailer troubles & Keith Alexander suffered engine damage during Dash for Cash. Our last winner from Rockingham Dragway, Billy Ryan wasn't in attendance for this race so the Bounty Hunter award sponsored by Wayside Landscapes & Supply then was placed on Kevin Locklear which was Rockingham Dragway Sunday runner-up. Phil Hilling was also awarded that as he took out Kevin in the semi's. The Sportsmanship award sponsored by Butner Construction went to Mr. Tim Sloan. He was trying to assist fellow racer Kevin Riner when he had a lifter failure during qualifying but after surveying the damage, it was deemed unable to fix at the track. Hillarey Marshall collected the Zamp Racing Best Winning Package of the entire race for her round #4 win were she was dialed a 6.26, had a 0.001 RT & ran a 6.263. Doyle Evans was working through some issues with his Camaro in round #1 which resulted in a loss but he picked up the Gutters by Design Worst Light award for his 0.176. Saturday race #1 was completed fairly close to 6 p.m. & we fell into race #2 in the run order.
