Well it’s the one that didn’t count… we made a simple mistake with the combo/ weight. We missed it and tech missed it. Long story short the combo we picked was for a stick shift car only. We just missed it… no excuses we screwed up. Dad has done this a LONG time and we have never made a mistake like this one.… but it was the BEST thing that could have happened. By the time we got home on Friday his heart rate was really fluctuating. Mom took him to the ER and after a bunch of test he is going to need a pacemaker. The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. Pretty crazy he has never made a mistake like this and it was literally perfect timing for him to go home early.
Thank you all for all the support for my dad. As he sits in the hospital I know the only thing he is thinking about is getting back out there to win again. He doesn’t quit. Even when they came to take the Wally back. He handled himself with grace and he kept apologizing to the staff. At 79 years old he is and always will be a great competitor.
Side note…. At the fall classic any other GT/LA cars looking to do a little grudge racing in qualifying? I don’t know if this has ever happened in Super Stock but we are ready to get down for a little
Thank Tom. That's what I heard. Sorry to hear that Ron is having some health issues. hope he gets better soon and back to racing. That car is crazy fast and that small amount of weight would not have made a difference in our race. I could have gotten close the the second place car for the final round if it would have been caught early enough. We had the car in race mode not class mode because Ronnie was so much faster than us. That was the first time I raced that car and needed to make good consistent runs leading up to eliminator. Thanks to the Stephenson family for allowing me to race the purple Corn Dog Queen car at Indy. Had a great time and a good trip. Maybe we can do it again one day.
