When getting into computers back in the 90s realized I had to think like the computer my process didn't matter to it. Plus you have to understand what it sees and what it doesn't.


The ecu has no way to know what the actual timing is. It goes to the timing map and commands what ever the value is in the cell being used.

The timing offset helps get the actual timing close to what the ecu will command after phasing but you still need to match it with a timing light to match what is commanded to the actual value.

Have used the same method described above plus check it again after releasing the lock to match what cell is being used live on the laptop.
