They were released to the Algierian government in Algiers. Then flown to Germany for medical treatment and testing. Then on to the States escorted by President Carter and welcomed by President Reagan. I know a few Marines from their association with the Marine Embassy Guard Association, Kevin Hermening and his family are great people. He spent the majority of his time in solitary confinement.
