The slow cars have few competitors, most guys have found a nitch and that is where they want to race as they have little class competition and they can qualify really well at major races. They are all softly factored engines due to the lack of numbers running in their classes. 350 chevy's, 340 mopars have a bunch of competitors and their factors tend to be maybe a bit severe.

Actually winning eliminator with one of the slow odd ball combinations is tough if not almost impossible. There have been a few. Been there done that on occasion. Closest I got to winning an eliminator with a slow car was the semi finals at the Summernationals one season with a W/S. with used to run restrictors under the carb (essentially gaskets with small holes to slow the car down and to try and match the weather) but matching the weather with a slow car small engine small carb, is not an easy thing to do. More power to the guys that consistently run them and do well. They are few and far between.

My thoughts on being low qualifier at a major event is that you don't get much out of it. Winning the eliminator is where the major satisfaction comes from. He will be hard pressed to do it. And if he did; I would congratulate him and pat him on the back.

You won't factor him out of existence unless you and a bud build similar cars and drive the class record way down and force the issue and I doubt you are going to do so; so why worry about him, other then the equities of how many times you have torn down vs what he has been torn down.

Life is not fair. Won't be fair this week nor next either. Just the way things are.

Look at the modern Camaro's and mustangs that they let run in normal stock classes. No way the B/SA modern Camaro should be running in that class, they are as poorly factor as some of those slow cars. NHRA has not seemed to want to put them where they belong with respect to horsepower, my guess is they want more modern cars and are catering the Auto Manufacters to obtain more sponsorship money.

Good luck this week to you and all the guys racing still in Stock and Superstock! I don't miss an event on NHRA or D3 TV.
Don, All good points, plus that pud combo is there because the boy at NHRA put it there...If anyone can't run 1.20 under with that combo, then they need a new hobby..
That car has be torn down 10-15 times. At the Babys it was tossed for having too shiny of a booster...Hopefully he sprayed it with Super Clean and now it's good to go..
I know fair is fair, but why bother on this one?
