Default Re: 140 Stockers at Columbus...

"I watched the live feed and was surprised that probably 80 percent of the drivers were in their 60s and 70s, at 65 it made me feel a bit young.

I had the discussion regarding age in Stock and SS a couple of weeks ago, at the Lebanon Valley D1 race. I also noticed maybe 7-10 racers under 60 years of age in either of these classes.

What is going to happen with these cars in upcoming years???

I hope this doesn't happen. A friend passed 8 years ago and had an original 70 SS Chevelle in amazing shape. His sister and brother inlaw (younger) inherited the car and had no idea what to do with the car. They tried making it street legal, but had no idea how to do that, so they tore the car apart, got overwhelmed and now it's a pile of pieces and junk.

Unfortunately, it has been passed over to one of their friends, who also has no idea what to do with it. It frustrates me, as I want to the car and will pay for it, but they will not part with it. It sits and I hope this doesn't happen in the next 7-10 years, to a lot of the cars currently racing in Stock and Super Stock.

Please consider selling your Stocker & Super Stockers and not letting the above happen.

I've been trying to get my nephews (4) in their early 20s interested in this type of racing, but they have no interest in these cars. Unfortunately they like the dragsters. So, I guess we'll see what happens to these stockers & super stockers in 7-10 years.

Sorry for the long winded reply.
