for a 56 Chevy; what is the latest legal manual trans. number of forward gears.

personally, I think it is crap to be able to run a 350 turbo in a '57.

since the '56 was available with a 3 speed & OD, then I ought to be able, by the same thinking, to run a 4 speed-right?
