Re: what is an NHRA National Open?
It's like a non points earning divisional race less the alcohol cars. But they count as a grade point. Most are only one or two days and lightly attended, but they are usually fast paced and can be a lot of fun. Some are in remote areas of the divisions to make earning a grade point easier for the racers that have to travel great distances to earn them.
The Dutch Classic is by far the most popular of them all, it can be great for setting records and is probably, besides Indy, the biggest stock/super stock event there is. Could be 250 plus stk/SS cars there this weekend. There are .90 classes and top dragster, top sportsman and comp, but they are not heavily populated.
Opens are all run fields, and no ahfs.
