Re: Live from Rising Sun, Maryland - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
So you're feeling sorry for yourself about losing and then having to drive a few hours home - try this once - yesterday I got to spend some time with Stock racer Thomas Sundstrum and we talked about his 'commute' he must make when coming to our events .You see Thomas is from Sweden - yep, that Sweden .First he has to get to his local airport -then get a flight to Newark ,NJ - all 8 1/2 hours of it - then rent a car and drive to Jim Morgans shop to pick up his racer and then on to the track .But he says its worth it - coming to our races is what he wants .And compared to his job back home as a cell phone tower tech ( 1,000 feet high ) its a walk in the park !
Thomas qualified # 19 with his B/SA '68 Mustang ( which by the way has been a race car since 1990) and had a tough first round loss but is ready to come back - and can't wait for the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic to begin .
PS - One last thing - a bit of trivia if you will - the next time you see a car with a number on their window that starts with an 8 they are not from the states - 8's are reserved for International competitors only .
