Default Re: New information on 5.00 gears for GM

I think it would be a good thing, as long as the manufacturer goes with the preferred tooth counts on the gears to achieve the ratios, E.G. 4.11 is 39-9 tooth count vs. a 4.10 is 41-10

A 5.00 gear could be 10-50 or 9-45, the 9-45 tooth count being stronger of course......

I never could understand why anyone produced the 4.10 and 4.30 ratio's when you could have 4.11's and 4.33's with stronger teeth......must have had something to do with noise or something. ?????
