The racing community was deeply saddened at the loss of Super Stock racer Dave Layer of Heads-Up Cylinder Heads last year. Dave was the go-to guy for go-fast cylinder head work, and he was a big supporter of last year's race. Not only that, but he could drive, too, finishing in the Top 10 in NHRA Div. 3. With the family's blessing, we will honor and remember him in the most fitting way: showcasing the go-fast elite of S/SS racing with the Dave Layer Memorial Quick 32 CIC Shootout.
The race will feature the Friday's Top 16 Qualifiers in both Stock and Super Stock, and pit them in a Competition Eliminator-style battle royale: Sportsman ladder, .500 Full Tree handicapped off their respective Index, but the first to the finish wins!
Loose Rocker welcomes back presenting sponsors Comp Cams and Legacy HVAC/Carrier (If you're in the Louisville, KY area, call Super Stock racer Matt Alvey first for your heating and air conditioning solutions!), and new this year is the addition of Stock racer MJ Quinn's Derby City Covers. They make The Classic Coverall -- much more than a fender cover. As the name implies, these custom-fitted one-piece covers protect both fenders *and* the nose of the car, perfect for those trips to the teardown barn! The two finalists will both receive a Classic Coverall. (and an invite to the barn...?)
As the absolute leader in valve train technology, Comp Cams needs no introduction, but you can find all the pieces-parts you need at
www.compcams.com. While you're there, check out Comp's sister companies as well. One of those is FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology) who will also be supporting the racers once again with gift certificates.
We still have Q32 naming rights and some presenting sponsor positions available. Engine builders in particular: this is a great showcase for big bragging rights! Contact us to get involved.
